Trophy Club Engagement : Chris & Lauren
They became friends during their sophomore year of high school after meeting in band class. While Lauren thought of Chris as only a friend, he secretly had a crush on her. One day she invited him over along with some friends to play Rock Band. Soon, Lauren realized how funny Chris was and how much he was making her laugh. She was overjoyed by his presence. From there on, they became best friends. One year, they both left for a band trip to Colorado. It was on that bus ride together when they decided to begin dating.
After graduating high school, they both attended Baylor University. Chris was studying engineering and Lauren was studying nursing. Eventually, Lauren had to move to Dallas for nursing school, while Chris continued his studies in Waco. They went from seeing each other practically every day to seeing each other only once or twice a month. You know as they say, absence truly does make the heart grow fonder. Once she finished nursing school, Lauren moved back to Waco to be finally begin her career of being a nurse and to be with Chris as he finishes up with school. Over the years, they have had time to grow together and fall even more in love.
"About eight years ago I was on a school bus saying something funny to the person across the aisle. I heard an ease-dropping girl behind me laugh. I turned around to see who it was, and there she was. I had seen Lauren around before, but that was the moment I decided I had to get to know her better.
What I’ve come to adore most about Lauren after these years is her selflessness. She works exhausting night shifts at the hospital in service of others. I adore the strength and kindness she has to see some of the most heart-wrenching things and move on to help the next patient. I’m very proud of the woman she’s become as we’ve grown together these past years." - Chris
"He is the funniest guy I know. He always knows how to keep me laughing, even if I am mad at him he finds a way to get me to smile. I am confident that a life with him will bring so much laughter and fun.
He is smart and determined; he’ll be graduating in August with his Master’s degree in engineering after a mere five years. I’m so proud of him and cannot wait to cheer for him on graduation day. He is a kind, easy going guy, who helps balance out my craziness at times and reminds me to not stress over the little things." - Lauren
"After we first started dating, before the ‘I love yous’ were spoken, we would tell each other “you’re my favorite” at the end of a date or conversation. I don’t remember how it started, but we said it to one another a lot, one of the reasons I chose that particular embroidery hoop I stitched for our engagement." - Lauren
