In The Home of // The Hollman Family
With the holidays coming up rather quickly, that means an abundance of family photos are being taken in anticipation for Christmas cards! I'm mostly known as a wedding photographer so I mainly photograph weddings, bridals, engagement sessions (and boudoir psst). But I don't mind taking family photos when inquired. I love photographing small families (honestly it becomes difficult photographing LARGER, extended groupings and it doesn't really resonate my personal style and creativity.) So I like to leave the extended groupings for the weddings and I'll suggest other fellow photographers who make photographing families their primary focus to those who want the large, extended family photos.
Meet the darling Hollman family. They wanted their family session taken at their beautiful home in Irving. I LOOOVED photographing there because it was in the comfort of their natural habitat. It had huge windows which gave an abundance of natural lighting! And lots of natural lighting is the key to lovely photographs. The father, Travis, owns a luxury locker manufacturing company and he and his wife Stephanie are involved in various charities, including The Family Place, which they will be chairing for the 2014 luncheon year. They are wonderful parents to their beautiful boys, Cruz, who is 4 years old and Chance, who is 2.
Little boys will be boys and run around, making my job a challenge (and an exercise). As long as the parents understand that with photographing little ones it DOES take time and patience. You must keep the mood light and happy to make for a successful shoot. Just a little FYI, little ones WILL be rambunctious and not listen at times during a photo shoot. If you get on to them, that only makes things worse and will make doing family photos just a bad experience for them. So you have to help make the experience fun for them so that the photographer is able to capture those happy, smiling photos that are oh so desired. And the Hollman family did just that, they kept the mood exciting and fun! And I made animal noises. Enjoy.
