Charis (pronounced Karis – like Charismatic…cool right?) is a very, very sweet young woman! She has been playing the piano for 12 years and is super talented at it. She’s beautiful, kind, talented and not to mention incredibly smart! She has been accepted into the honors program at Texas A&M! Congrats to Charis for her hard work!

A dream finally came true for these two lovebirds and I am so honored to have been there to document it. For me, to be a part of this wedding was an absolute dream. Lindsay and George are dear friends of mine and we hang out often. I was there to both document as a professional and enjoy the wedding as a friend, which is quite the balancing task! The love that I felt on this day was overwhelming, in a good way of course. The people were amazing, I was surrounded by my own friends as well. My boyfriend was a guest. The vendors were extremely talented and great to work with. The day was beautiful and sunny. It was good. No, it was FABULOUS, FANTASTIC, and SPLENDIFEROUS! You may remember Lindsay and George from their farm engagement session which you can see here and/or remember the beautiful Lindsay from her lovely bridal session seen here! This couple has an amazing love story. They are so optimistic, kind to others and deserved to have the wedding of their dreams.

Rachel is a free spirited young woman! She loves things retro and vintage. Rachel is planning on going to Virginia Tech for computer science engineering which is pretty dang awesome. She is extremely beautiful and super intelligent! It was a beautiful day for a session with such a sweet, fun senior! Congrats Rachel on all your hard work.

These past months my boyfriend Philip and I went to the beach in Port Aransas to see some dear friends gettin’ hitched!

Philip and I went to the Art and Jazz festival in good ol’ Denton, TX.

I picked up my dad, who flew home on the corporate jet! He got this new job and now gets to travel in style. : )

I splurged and got some lash extensions from Wax and Lash Bar. The sweet ladies who own it do fantastic work! I’m going back for sure.

Wonderful friends (and newlyweds) invited us to attend dinner with them. We made lemon bars for dessert.

In my sculpture class we had to create something made out of steel, so for my project I created a sculpture/commentary on scoliosis. Why? Because I have it.

Philip and I had a beautiful Sunday evening together, feasting at Greenhouse and relaxing on the square in Denton. We hula hooped with friends and ate cheese and drank wine till sunset!

I worked hard on my wood project for sculpture class.

Safety first! When working around sparks and hot flames especially!

I looove photographing seniors. I just love the anticipation they hold in their eyes. During a senior session, I like being able to get to know them and their thoughts on their future, their goals, where they are planning on going, what they will be studying or doing, and being a (super) senior in college myself, I like to give some of my own advice. Photographing Grant was a piece of cake. He was a super sweet guy and totally warmed up to being photographed. His sweet mother and younger sister came out to support him and help out. It was such a beautiful, calm day. Enjoy!

You may remember Gabe and Carolina from their engagement session I did a while back. Well now I’m so excited to get to post their wedding, which was such a blast! Gabe and Carolina are such a cool, relaxed couple who are all for having fun. Carolina and her lovely bridesmaids were getting ready at the fabulous Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, where my second shooter and I documented the getting ready moments and details.

This wedding was slighting themed around the idea of the mustache. The groom and his dashing groomsmen grew their staches quite successfully.

Cristina is such a beautiful, inside and out, happy girl. She could light up a room! I had so much fun photographing this smiley, cheerful, excited senior, she made what I do easy peasy lemon squeezey. Cristina currently does tumbling lessons, is involved with her Youth Group, student council and National Honor Society and she is planning on going to the University of Texas in Austin when she graduates.

I’m just so excited to finally post these bridals of the darling bride Lindsay. You may recognize her from the farm engagement session I did a while back with her now husband George! (Check those out here). This past weekend I photographed their wedding and it was a dream to be a part of! The day couldn’t have been more beautiful and they deserved it. I can’t WAIT to post the pictures from the wedding, they are a real treat. Lindsay is such a beautiful being, not only on the outside but on the inside where it truly matters. She can sure brighten up your day. Also, it’s not too often these days that a bride will actually wear her mother’s vintage gown. Enjoy!

Finding Kind.

I am currently involved with an amazing group called the Denton Women’s Collective. The Denton Women’s Collective (DWC) is meant to unite women on a local as well as international level, with the shared hope of a more tolerant world offering equal opportunities, kindness, acceptance and love. The goal is to make the most of our individual gifts and empower one another, no matter our education, religion, political beliefs, marital status, age or background. I have met some strong, beautiful and amazing women within this group and seeing it continue to grow is quite exciting. Like us on Facebook!

Recently, we were able to set up a screening of the documentary Finding Kind at a local high school and invited girls of all ages, from elementary schools, middle schools and beyond, to attend the screening. The Kind Campaign is a movement, documentary and school program based upon the powerful belief in kindness. It brings awareness and healing to the negative and lasting effects of abuse within the “Girl World”.

Almost every single female has had an experience in which they become the aggressor or the victim of girl-against-girl crime. The name-calling, insults, threats, competition, manipulation, and rumors, etc, we often brush aside as “girl drama”. But when we think of that as acceptable ways of the typical female experience, what we’re overlooking is that they can have very lasting and negative effects on a growing mind, such as depression, anxiety, loss of self-worth, eating disorders, and even suicide.

Helping out with this campaign and seeing all of the girls come out and view the screening was so rewarding. We had huge crowds the two days we screened the documentary.

After the movie, we held a discussion with the girls with questions about their feelings about the film, personal stories that relates to the film, why girl-against-girl “crime” takes place and how to change this behavior. Some very brave girls shared their experiences, opinions and answers.

We also asked the girls to fill out a Kind Pledge card, Apology Card, and a Kind Card.

Growing up, I dealt with the drama, the rumors and was bullied a few times. I will never forget some of the threats and words I was told in the past. But I will not let it affect me today. I wish we had a program like this when I was in school, for it encourages girls to think about their actions and the possible consequences. And it lets the victim of bullying know that they are not alone. I wish I could personally let those girls know that the most beautiful people in the world are those who are kind to one another.

So I have been realizing that maybe my blog readers don’t exactly know the person behind the camera and I seriously need to fix that. Therefore, I’m changing things up around here. I’m planning on writing more personal blog posts in the future. So here we go. : )

To start out, I’m a full time college student (super senior), a studio art major and Spanish minor to be exact. I’m a sister, a girlfriend, art appreciator, music lover, recycler, Denton Women’s Collective member (I’ll blog about this sometime soon), I play ukulele and sing, and as you know, a wedding and portrait photographer. Things get a little busy.

This weekend is a weekend I have been looking forward to! It is going to be a blast! My boyfriend Philip scored us some wristbands to the 35 Denton music festival, which is happening in the brilliant city I live in. Just few minutes away from my apartment and I get to experience some ridiculously talented bands and hang out with good friends.

Just some of the interesting characters I hung out with after some music festival festivities last night.
